What does BNI Stand for?
BNI stands for Business Network International. With headquarters in Charlotte NC, BNI is a global network of over 270,000 business owners in 72 countries and growing. Business Network International was founded in 1985 by Dr. Ivan Misner and introduced to Canada by Don and Nancy Morgan in 1995. There are close to 6,000 business owners represented in BNI Canada.
How does BNI Work?
BNI brings business owners together in close-knit networking groups called Chapters. Each Chapter consists of professionals each representing a specific business category. The goal of each Chapter is to foster an environment where Members get to know, like and trust each other. To accomplish this, Members meet weekly to network, educate each other about their specific business needs and ask fellow Members for help in generating business referrals. Visitors are encouraged to attend most meetings and are invited to introduce themselves to the group and ask for referrals as well.
The weekly meeting is the heartbeat of a BNI Chapter, however, Members spend time outside the meeting socializing and getting to know one another on a more informal basis as well.
The result of this holistic approach to building business relationships is that BNI Members around the globe generate billions of dollars worth of business for each other in a relaxed, positive and supportive environment, with people they know, like and trust.
